2024-12-17 2024-12-20 Initial site visit by all crew members to collect sediment samples from Sanibel Island, Fort Myers Beach, Lovers Key and Clam Pass that will be used in geomorphic models to determine lithological and sediment volume information. 2025-04-28 2025-04-28 Post-hurricane sediment sampling at Sanibel Island and Bunche Beach, also with GPR (FGCU unit). Results will be used to help quantify storm sediment fluxes and characterize deposition in different barrier island environments. Personnel: Dan Ciarletta and Rose Palermo.
2025-06-25 2025-06-25 Demonstration of post-driver coring system and acquisition of subsurface geology from washovers associated with hurricanes Helene and Milton at Midnight Pass (Siesta Key and Casey Key). Results to inform technical paper on rapid post-storm evaluation of geomorphology. Personnel: Dan Ciarletta, Emily Johnson, Nancy DeWitt
2026-02-25 2026-03-03 Follow-up coring at Midnight Pass to evaluate landscape evolution >1 year after storms. Additional coring to take place at Milton Pass to produce a geomorphic baseline.
