Identifier 2025-636-FA
Alternate names LakeTahoe Cataraft Testing
Purpose Collect geo-located lakebed imagery using a newly developed autonomously operated surface vehicle over a known area. This is a system verification and testing operation in preparation for mapping a shore protection structure installation off of the south west side of the island of Oahu in late 2025 – Early 2026.
Location Lake Tahoe, CA
Summary System operation verification and accuracy estimation of a new mapping platform developed at USGS PCMSC. This will be done by surveying an area approximately 150 x 300 meters of the lakebed near Tahoe City, CA. This same area was independently mapped by USGS in March of 2021 using an entirely different system. These previously collected data will be used for comparison and validation.
