Field Activity 95SSF01

Identifier 95SSF01
Alternate names G-1-95-FL
Purpose Understand the geologic evolution of the coast and inner cont. shelf and aid in coastal management. By investigating the subsurface sediment facies present on the shelf and determine the relationship among facies and with the underlying carbonate platform.
Location West-central Florida shelf; Anclote Key (north) and Venice Inlet to the, Florida to 30 km offshore., Florida
Summary 123 cores collected and analyzed from Oct. 1994 to Sept. 1997 47 cores were collected in association with the USGS section of the project for 1995.
Info derived Grain size, calcium carbonate content and total organic content for all cores. Select samples mineralogy by XRD analysis and age dating by carbon 14 or Sr-isotope ratio.
