Field Activity A410PS

Identifier A410PS
Alternate names A-4-10-PS
Purpose Characterize substrate and benthic invertebrate condition of the nearshore/tidal flats of the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge following the largest dike removal in the Pacific Northwest that occurred September 2009 to recover salmon habitat and function This and subsequent repeat surveys through 2012 will quantify the response of nearshore/tidal flat geomorphology, benthic and planktonic community composition and succession, food web connectivity, and water quality conditions following dike removal providing essential empirical data for developing models of nearshore ecosystem response to large-scale land use. Last year baseline information was collected under FACS ID A-6-09-PS.
