Field Activity M295MB

Identifier M295MB
Alternate names M-2-95-MB, 95030
Also known as 1995-030-FA
Purpose Scientific Objectives Objectives of the cruise are to conduct numerous studies to further the scientific knowledge of the MBNMS to enhance Sanctuary management and resource stewardship.
Description United States Geological Survey, Menlo Park, California. Chief Scientists: Mark Pickett, Terry D. Jackson. Biological and Geological and Geophysical data (sidescansonar, uniboom, planktonnet, Rawinsonde, boxcore, bathymetry, tempsalinometer) of field activity M-2-95-MB in Monterey Bay, CA. The area of operations will be the central Californiacoast, within the MBNMS, out to 50 miles. from 05/08/1995 to 05/21/1995
Location out to 50 miles.
Summary Overview Of Operations: Government and academic scientists affiliated with the MBNMS, Office of Coastal Ocean Resources, NOS, will conduct several studies aboard the NOAA ship McArthur in two separate legs, the first leg from April 2 to April 15, 1995, and the second leg from May 9 to May 21, 1995.

The chirp system (datasonics cap-6000) fish weighs 300 lbs in air and is about 0.75 m long. The lab consoles are two 9" racks, each about 22" high. They weight about 100 lbs total. The fish transmits a swept band from 1 to 10 khz and has an output of about 200 db referenced to 1m. bathymetry: depthsounder planktonnet: planktontrawl bathymetry: bathymetric and navigation equipment tempsalinometer: seacats Staff information imported from InfoBank Aaron King (MBNMS) - Cruise Leader Allison Gong (UCSC) - Technician Andy Stevenson (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Bob Hall (EPA) - Scientist Brenda Konar (UCSC) - Diver Brian Edwards (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Carol Stoker (NASA) - Scientist Dave Hogg (USGS Western Region) - Technician David Brooks (UCSC) - Scientist Don Barch (NASA) - Technician Don Canestro (UCSC) - Divemaster Don Potts (M/UK) - Scientist/diver Fran Hostettler (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Gary Greene (MLML) - Scientist Giacomo Bernardi (UCSC) - Scientist Hank Chezar (USGS Western Region) - Technician Homa Lee (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Jim Tait (UCSC) - Scientist Jim Gardner (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Jodi Schwarz (UCSC) - Technician John Gann (USGS Western Region) - Technician John Pearse (UCSC) - Scientist/diver Kaye Kinoshita (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Ken Israel (USGS Western Region) - Technician Kenneth Vicknair (UCSC) - Diver Kevin O'Toole (USGS Western Region) - Technician Kirsten Lindstron (UCSC) - Diver Lani Watson (UCSC) - Scientist Larry Kooker (USGS Western Region) - Technician Ledabeth Pickthorn (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Marinna Martini (USGS Western Region) - Technician Mark Pickett (MBNMS) - Chief Scientist Marlene Noble (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Mary Hogan (UCSC) - Technician Mary McGann (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Michelle Paddack (UCSC) - Technician Mike Boyle (USGS Western Region) - Technician Mike Kenner (UCSC) - Diver Mike Torresan (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Miranda Sanders (UCSC) - Diver Monty Hampton (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Nichole Crane (UCSC) - Diver Nick Ladizinsky (UCSC) - Technician Nicole Kleinsinger (UCSC) - Technician Patrick Cotter (MBNMS/CCC) - Scientist Paul Oosterling (NPS) - Scientist Pete Dartnell (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Richard Lind (NPS) - Scientist Rob Kayen (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Roberto Anima (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Ross Hein (UCSC) - Diver/technician Steve Eittreim (USGS Western Region) - Scientist Steve Lonhart (UCSC) - Diver Steve Taylor (NPS) - Scientist Stewart Lamerdin (CDFG) - Technician Terry Astrid (UCSC) - Diver Terry Jackson (MBNMS) - Chief Scientist Thomas Schulz (UCSC) - Technician Todd Newberry (UCSC) - Scientist Walt Olson (USGS Western Region) - Technician Wendell Nuss (NPS) - Scientist
