Field Activity 09LME01

Identifier 09LME01
Purpose 1) Determining the response of mangrove forests to disturbance and sea-level rise. 2) Looking for evidence of historic fires in freshwater wetlands in ENP.
Location Everglades National Park, FL
Summary This fieldtrip will undertake regularly quarterly sampling of Sediment Erosion Tables (SET) in Everglades NP and collect sediment cores to use in reconstructing fire history in several locations in the Park.
Info derived 1) Change in wetland surface elevation 2) For the cores: grain size, organic / inorganic matter content, bulk density, presence-absence of charcoal fragments
Comments Additional Platform: Chevy Silverado (GSA lease). Additional Equipment: Surface elevation table, Russian peat corer.
Platform
25-ft Parker
