Site visit to coral reef erosion monitoring stations to measure loss of reef elevation
Location
Hen & Chickens Reef, Islamorada, FL
Summary
The dive team located and measured reef-elevation loss at n = 16 "monuments" and n = 12 "rods." GPS locations and depths (FSW) were obtained for each monument / rod, and photographs and video were taken of them and the surrounding reef. A coral bleaching event was observed, including all of the main reef-building coral species. Heterogeneity in bleaching severity was noted among species and individual colonies within species.
Info derived
